Het is op een zondag. Geen voetbal in Nederland, geen voetbal in Dortmund.
Wat dan? Essen!
Heerlijk jaren '80: kaartje kopen bij een bouwkeet voor een paar euries, broodje bratwurst op de vuist en lopen maar. Sleutelwoorden: oud en vervallen.
De tribune aan de lange zijde staat nog maar voor driekwart. Geen probleem; de bezoekende supporters van Fortuna Koln zijn toch niet met veel.
Een speciale wedstrijd vandaag: RW Essen is gepromoveerd en speelt vandaag zijn laatste thuiswedstrijd van het seizoen. Voor aanvang wordt de beker (geen schaal) uitgereikt en lopen de spelers een ereronde met een spandoek waarop de fans een gelukkig nieuwjaar wordt gewenst. Beetje vreemd, wel leuk.
